Hello my beauties! Usually on Tuesdays I post anime inspired looks, but lately I've been receiving such few comments on those that I feel like maybe you aren't that interested in them anymore so I decided to switch things up a little. I want my blog content to be both useful and entertaining, which is why today I want to share my "beauty purge" for this year, it's pretty self-explanatory, don't you think? I'm a beauty hoarder and chances are that if you're reading this, you are one too : / Sorry to break this news to you, but fear not, like most problems in life it does have a solution. The very first thing you need to do is assess your "stash" and ask yourself "do I honestly use/need this?", answer it truthfully of course, otherwise it's just a waste of your time!
Where to start when doing a beauty purge? You guessed it right, the first step you should start with is the most difficult of them all, the area you feel the fondest about. In my case, makeup. Why did I use five different mascaras at the same time is beyond me; they've all dried out so off to the trash can they go. Oh and some piece of advise here: use only one mascara at a time, if you need to use two to get the results you want, then neither are good enough to keep ; ) Let's see what else I don't really use/need... oh yeah eyeliners of weird colours like baby blue (so 1980's!!!) yellow or orange; some eyeshadows that were once raved about (like the Milani Baked one) but have been totally forgotten/replaced with something better; a couple of palettes that were used a few times for my anime makeups but that have too much of an old lady's scent to be ever used again; blushes that are too dark or too bright for my pale skin... you catch my drift right? Let's move on!
The second step towards healthier beauty habits for me was skincare. So many sample size products that didn't work, why keep them? I will never use/purchase them again! Too many toners, expensive face creams and serums that did almost nothing for my skin, so long marketing scams! Masks that promised a lot and delivered too little... One thing though, the St Ives Apricot Scrub rules, the only reason it is here is because the pot is rather old and I should get a new one in a smaller container : )
At this point things got really easy for me, so the third step took little to no effort at all and I got rid of ALL the haircare that I didn't use. I despise some of the products in the above picture so why was I clinging on to them? They were never ever touching my scalp again, they needed to go for good!
The fourth and final step involved fragrances. See those two small spray bottles on the right? I have no idea what's in them!!! I stored some body mists there that I once "liked" because the original bottles were too big to fit anywhere and then they went straight to the bottom of my drawer. I also once "liked" the Wels vanilla scent, now I don't anymore so there's no reason to keep it! And that orange bottle on the left... everybody in my family hates it and I think it works better as an air freshener rather than a body spray so... see ya!
I promise, it feels really good to get rid of things you don't use/need. Now, come on! Don't use this as an excuse to go on and buy a thousand things to replace them, ok? Do not let the beauty hoarder in you take over again! Happy purging, my darlings!
