Good day, beloved readers! How's this week treating you? Mine is going great so far because as of Monday, all the kids and teens from my country are on Winter holidays so buses are less crowded, rush hour is less hectic and that my friends, makes me incredibly happy! Anyway, the point of today's post is not to rave about my less stressful life but to share my two cents on the NYX's Natural palette. Want to know my thoughts on it? Then please keep on reading ^^
One of NYX's newest addition to their eye arsenal is this Natural palette, a six eyeshadow ensemble, ideal to create soft "natural" daytime-appropriate makeups. They also have another one called Smokey, best suited for more dramatic, night looks.
The three shades that caught me eye from this palette were the golden champagne (2), peach orange (3) and dark chocolate brown (6) which, to my surprise, didn't live up to my expectations. NYX is one of my favourite brands, in my opinion they make quite nice and affordable products, especially for the eyes, but this palette is a total fail for me. Most eyeshadows lack pigmentation and won't even show on my lids even with the help of a primer. I have raved about NYX products before (Champagne & Caviar, Bohemian Rhapsody, Mysterious Brown Eyes, etc), I own several of their single eyeshadows and more recently their new nine and five colour combos from the collections called Love in Paris and Love in Florence respectively and they are truly amazing. I don't really know what went wrong here but most shades are way too chalky and light, too gritty-glittery and the darkest colours end up looking muddy after an hour or so. The fifth and sixth colours are not too bad in terms of texture and pigmentation, all others don't show all that well on me and neither of them stay put for more than 45-60 minutes, that in my book is a complete failure. I should point out though, that I have super oily lids and I get that most products won't last on me as long as they would on somebody else, but usually the threshold is of a couple of hours not minutes. The swatches above were done without a primer.
I really hate doing negative reviews but I do hope this was helpful for some of you. I can't recommend it enough, but should you want/need a neutral, affordable and compact palette pick up the Champagne and Caviar one, trust me, you won't regret it Have a great week my sweet darlings! ^^
